An Editor’s Insight into Publishing Magazine

In my How to Edit Professionally class that I took during my last semester at Kent State University, I was tasked with designing, writing, and editing a magazine that would serve as a portfolio piece for my editing work. The magazine needed to include summaries of the textbook chapters, examples of my editing work throughout the semester, comparisons of original and edited work, and even a mock advertisement, which featured my parents’ vintage shop Pink Nose Vintage. I was able to feature what I did in the class in a visually appealing, physically tangible way. It also gave me experience with editing industry formatting standards.

The planet and star designs featured in this magazine were created by @MahouPop on Instagram. Their creations are also available on their Etsy shop. I greatly appreciate them for allowing me to use their wonderful designs!

This magazine is provided on my website for portfolio/demonstrative purposes only and is NOT to be featured on any other websites or sold commercially.
